David Alan Robertson (Ph.D. 1983, Pennsylvania) is The Ellen Philips Katz Director of the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art and serves as faculty supervisor for the Art History Department's internships at the Block and globally. He is president of the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries, Co-Chair of the national Task Force on University and College Museums, a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors and the American Association of Museums. Dr. Robertson has held museum positions at the University of Chicago, University of Oregon, Loyola University, Dickinson College, Yale University and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
He was Fulbright Professor at the University of Munich in 1989/90 where he undertook research in the field of late-medieval, early-Renaissance German sculpture and painting. In 1994-1995, he served as President of the Illinois Medieval Association and co-editor of Essays in Medieval Studies. His publications include articles entitled Michelangelo's St. Proculus 'Reconstructed,' (Art Bulletin, 1983), Museums in Germany (Grove Dictionary, 1996), and The Schnitzaltar (Grove Dictionary, 1996), as well as numerous exhibition catalogues on a broad range of topics.
