Thomas Love

Thomas Love studies the ways in which oppositional politics become visualized and materialized. He focuses on art that changes the parameters of visibility and embodiment within social and cultural fields, especially by highlighting the persistence of ingrained cultural forms, types, and genres. Mobilizing psychoanalytic and queer theoretical methodologies, he analyzes how identity is dependent on material culture.

Love also works as an artist. Recently, he has used animation as a tool to conspicuously recontextualize images in order to reveal their ideological underpinnings.
