Professor David Van Zanten named a Fellow of the Society of Architectural Historians

In November, the Board of Directors of the Society of Architectural Historians named Emeritus Professor David Van Zanten a Fellow of the Society of Architectural Historians for “a lifetime of contributions to the field of architectural history.” His colleagues in the Art History Department celebrate this prestigious honor.

Professor Huey Copeland appointed to the Arthur Andersen Teaching and Research Professorship

Provost Holloway and the Board of Trustees approved WCAS Dean Adrian Randolph’s recommendation that Associate Professor Huey Copeland be appointed to the Arthur Andersen Teaching and Research Professorship for his “outstanding research program . . . excellent teaching . . . [and] outstanding leadership qualities.”

Erin Reitz (PhD, 2017) named Assistant Professor in Art History at UIUC

In the fall of 2019, Erin Reitz will join the faculty of the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as an assistant professor of American Art. Next year, Reitz will head to Brown University, where she has been named a 2018-2019 Pembroke Center Postdoctoral Fellow.

Julia Oswald awarded Samuel H. Kress Fellowship from the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art

Julia will spend the first year of the fellowship conducting research overseas. During the second year, she will be in residence at CASVA to complete her dissertation and to work part-time on curatorial projects.

Aisha Motlani wins dissertation fellowship from the American Association of University Women

Aisha Motlani wins 2018-2019 Dissertation Fellowship from the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Founded in 1881, the AAUW is one of the oldest and largest non-institutional sources of funding for graduate women. Aisha will use the fellowship to complete her dissertation titled “Crisis and Innovation: Visualizing the 1857 Indian Rebellion."
