Julia Oswald

Julia Oswald studies medieval and early modern art. She is especially interested in devotional imagery and the relationship between pictorial media and the cult of relics, and her dissertation examines the growing range of iconographies developed to depict the relics of the Passion 1100-1600. Julia received a BA in art history from Bard College in late 2006 and worked as an editor for a contemporary art magazine before beginning her graduate studies at Northwestern in 2011. Her research has been supported by a Fulbright Award (2015-16), and she is the 2016-17 Mellon COSI Curatorial Research Fellow at AIC.
