Rory Sykes

Rory Sykes studies Palestinian visual culture during the second half of the 20th Century. Her work considers the illustrated pamphlets, posters, films, and photojournalistic representations produced during the revolutionary period of 1967-1982, with consideration of contemporary artistic projects that engage that image archive. More broadly, Rory's research interests include politically engaged transnational cultural work in the 1960s and 70s, contemporary art from the Middle East and North Africa, and the relationship between lens-based media and documentary claims under conditions of catastrophe.
